Dr. Yossi Sheffi

Professor Yossi Sheffi is Director of the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (MIT CTL), and Director and Founder of the Master of Engineering in Logistics Program. He is a faculty member of the MIT Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, as well as the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society. 

He is an expert in systems optimization, risk analysis and supply chain management and is the author of a text book Urban Transportation Networks: Equilibrium Analysis with Mathematical Programming Methods (1985) and six management books: The Resilient Enterprise: Overcoming Vulnerability for Competitive Advantage (2005); Logistics Clusters: Delivering Value and Driving Growth (2012); The Power of Resilience: How the Best Companies Manage the Unexpected (2015); ); Balancing Green: When to Embrace Sustainability in Business (and When Not to) (2018); and The New (Ab)Normal: Reshaping Business and Supply Chain Strategy Beyond Covid-19 (2020). His sixth and latest book is A Shot in the Arm: How Science, Engineering, and Supply Chains Converged to Vaccinate the World (October 2021). 

Under his leadership, the MIT CTL has launched many educational, research, and industry/government outreach programs, including the MIT Master of Engineering in Logistics program in 1998, the MIT Master of Applied Sciences in Supply Chain Management, and the MIT on-line offering the MITx MicroMasters program in supply chain management. (Launched in 2016, it has enrolled more than 350,000 learners in 196 countries.)

Prof. Sheffi launched an international expansion of MIT CTL, establishing academic logistics and supply chain management centers around the world. These include the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program in Spain launched in 2003, the Center for Latin America Logistics Innovation launched in 2007, the Malaysia Center for Supply Chain Innovation launched in 2012, the Luxembourg Center of Logistics launched in 2015, and the Ningbo Supply Chain Institute in China launched in 2016. Collectively these centers operate as the MIT Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) global network which he leads.

Outside academia, Dr. Sheffi has consulted with numerous governments and leading manufacturing, retail and transportation enterprises all over the world. He has also founded or co-founded five successful companies: LogiCorp (acquired by Ryder in 1994); PTCG (acquired by Sabre in 1996); e-Chemicals (acquired by AspenTech in 2001); Logistics.com (acquired by Manhattan Associates in 2003), and Syncra Systems (acquired by Oracle in 2004).

Dr. Sheffi has been recognized in numerous ways in academic and industry forums, including the 1997 Distinguished Service Award given by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. In addition, he is a life fellow of Cambridge University’s Clare Hall College.

Chouaib ROKBI

Chouaib Rokbi is STMicroelectronics Chief Transformation Officer, in charge of the re-engineering and digitalization of company core processes such as Supply Chain and Product Lifecycle Management. He has held this position since July 2018.

Chouaib began his career in Sandvik’s hard rock mining division (Tamrock) in 1995 as the design manager for the small size mining rigs. He successfully led the redesign to cost of the equipment line and is the inventor of the patented auto-balanced chassis. After undertaking his MBA in 2020, he joined STMicroelectronics as the industrial controller of Rousset plant, and after 3 years the overall Front End manufacturing of STMicroelectronics. In 2008 he began the Technology R&D and Digital Manufacturing Group Controller, adding IT in 2010 to his portfolio. In 2014 he took over the Group Controller position of the Digital Product Group to orchestrate its restructuring and the exit of the Set Top Box business. Chouaib’s main activities throughout his career have revolved around improvement of business operational efficiency, partnerships development, licensing in and out and M&As. In 2018, Jean-Marc Chery, STMicroelectronics CEO, tasked him with the challenge to rebuild ST main operational processes leveraging state of the art digital technologies.

Chouaib was born in Lyon in 1971. He holds an engineering degree from the Nation Institute of Applied Technology (INSA) and an MBA from EMLyon Business School.

Sebastian Peters

Sebastian Peters is the SVP – Head of Logistics and Industrial Planning at Airbus based in France. He joined Airbus in August 2019 and is responsible for planning, logistics, transport and the digitalization within operations including the SAP deployment and strategy. As part of the industrialization strategy , his role is to develop an integrated and digital supply chain strategy.

Prior to joining Airbus, he was the Vice President Global Supply Chain within BSH Home Appliances Group where he held global responsibility for supply chain planning and factory logistics. In BSH, he defined and rolled out an end to end supply chain planning strategy while setting up a new centralized demand/supply organization, including production planning, inventory management and material procurement for >40 factories worldwide.

Prior to joining Wayfair, Netzer worked at McKinsey & Company for more than 20 years in various positions, most recently as a Senior Partner, where he focused on the transportation and infrastructure industries and co-led McKinsey’s global logistics practice. 

Thomas is responsible for growing Wayfair’s sales & service organization, overseeing the CastleGate warehousing business and supply chain functions, and driving forward Wayfair’s product innovation. Prior to joining Wayfair, Thomas was a partner at McKinsey for 15 years. During his time at the leading management consultancy, he focused on the transportation and infrastructure industries and co-led McKinsey’s global logistics practice. Previously he had worldwide responsibility for HP’s Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) Supply Chain Operations (SCO) and was Vice President of HP’s IPG Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Supply Chain Operations. 

Steve also was the Business Operations Manager for Asia Pacific’s Business Customer Organization (BCO). He had responsibility for order management (value, volume, consumer), e-business, HP direct (Prime), contact centers, CRM, partner operations, IT and collections. Just prior to relocating to Singapore for these APJ roles, he worked in HP Labs as part of the new ventures group. 

Wei Chuen Chua

Wei Chuen Chua is the Vice President and Head of Supply Chain and Connectivity (SCC), at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). The SCC team is also responsible for charting the development of the logistics sector in Singapore.

Dr. Puay Siew Tan

In her full-time job with the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), Singapore, she leads the Manufacturing Control Tower, as the Programme Manager. She is also the Deputy Division Director of the Manufacturing System Division. 

Dr. Tan research interests include the cross-field disciplines of computer science and operations research for virtual enterprise collaboration, in particular sustainable complex manufacturing and supply chain operations in the era of Industry 4.0.

Ana Oliveira

She joined Cargill as FIBI LEAD – Leadership Excellence & Accelerated Development Program for 2 years and part of this rotational role, she was Supply Chain Project Manager for Cargill (Network Design) in São Paulo. Jose Ferrer

Jose is a strategic, results-oriented supply chain, global sourcing and logistics leader with more than 20 years of experience working with leading consumer product and food companies. He brings extensive knowledge about the design and implementation of supply networks and procurement solutions to his current role with Wal-Mart in Mexico. Using challenging and thought-provoking processes, Irina works with individuals and teams to bring them to their next level of performance. She travels the world facilitating workshops and leadership retreats, conducting training and individual coaching sessions. Her customized programs combine a systemic perspective with innovative tools in order to achieve desired and visible outcomes.

Irina is based in Singapore where she lives with her husband and their 2 daughters. She recently started to explore watercolor painting as a way of both self-expression and diving into the enormous wealth of information hidden by visual representations.
